Our Ongoing Projects
Crocus Wood
Thanks to a Croydon Greenspace grant we have been able to buy equipment such as tree poppers and a brush cutter and are working to clear and coppice the wooded area adjacent to the allotments.
We have named this area Crocus Wood and are planning to plant lots of crocus bulbs in the autumn.
If you would like to have a go at tree popping please come along on Thursday afternoons at 2pm and join us.
Bog-Loving Trees
We are really excited to announce that this winter 26/27 a new cluster of trees will be planted between the triangle/BMX and the pathway to help absorb excess water and reduce flooding in the area, while also creating a beautiful new habitat for wildlife.
Croydon Council provided a quotation to supply, plant and maintain 12 trees over three years. We applied for a National Lottery Community Fund grant for £6,790 — and our application was successful!
Croydon tree officer Dan Priddle has helped us design the scheme, and planting will take place this autumn.
Litter Picking
Led by Jenni Rodgers, our amazing Friends Liaison Officer, we do weekly litter picks in the park. These are at 10am on Saturdays in the winter months and at 5pm on Thursday evenings in the summer months. Equipment is supplied, but you can also become a Croydon Street Champion to get your own kit.
Nature Trail
Led by volunteer Angela Norman we have created a beautiful nature trail along the edge of the park closest to Green Lane. We are planning lots of activities for the trail - follow us on Facebook for details. Click here for some gorgeous seasonal photos of the nature trail.
